Very simply put, a Blue Star Mother is a mom of a child serving in the armed forces. BSMA (Blue Star Mothers of America) is a national organization with local chapters across the country. The organization is non-partisan, non-political organization whose members provide support to members, active military troops and veterans.
BSM began in 1942 in a handful of states and has since grown into all states and regions of the U.S. BSMA got it’s name from the Blue Star Flag, designed by
World War I Army Capt. Robert Queissner, which became the unofficial symbol of a child in service.
